Simple tips for clear, honest car photos that get more messages, using only a phone.

Start with a clean car and good light
Wash the car and take photos in the morning or late afternoon on an overcast day or in open shade. Harsh midday sun makes reflections and shadows that hide the car's shape.
The shots people want
- Front three-quarter view (the main cover photo).
- Rear three-quarter view.
- Both sides, straight on.
- Interior from the driver's seat, including the dash and the odometer showing the kilometres.
- Back seat, boot and engine bay.
- Wheels and tyres, and close-ups of any dents, scratches or wear you mention.
- Modifications, if the car has any.
Simple tips that make a difference
- Take photos in landscape, with the phone held level and the whole car in the frame.
- Choose a plain background, such as an empty car park or driveway.
- Do not use heavy filters. People want to see the real colour.
- Make the first photo your best one. On WYG the first photo is the cover shown in ads.
- You can add up to 20 photos per car, so show everything.
