How to write a swap ad that gets replies
What to put in your ad, how to describe stock and modified cars honestly, and the details that make people message you.

Lead with the facts people search for
People scan ads quickly. Make the year, make, model and variant obvious, then the kilometres and anything that sets the car apart. The more complete it is, the fewer questions you will get and the more serious the ones you do get.
Be honest about faults
Mention the scratch, the worn tyre or the warning light. It feels counter-intuitive, but being upfront saves wasted trips, and people trust sellers who point out the flaws.
Stock or modified?
- Stock cars: say if it is a one-owner car, garaged, fully serviced.
- Modified cars: list what has been changed from factory (springs, exhaust, tune, wheels) and whether it is still road legal with paperwork for the changes.
- Keep the description to what is true. Overselling a modification is the fastest way to lose a buyer's trust.
Say what you would swap for
A clear "I want" gets better matches. You can choose a specific model, a body type, or add cash. Narrow wants get fewer but better replies. Broad wants get more replies but more mismatches.
Add a short note
Use the note on your ad to say where you are, how flexible you are on cash, and what else you would consider. Two or three sentences is plenty.
Ready to swap?
Post the car you have and the one you want. It's free, with no commission.
